I'm of the mindset that if a toy/popular brand like Hannah Montana/etc. will get a kid to read, what's the harm? I can understand both sides of the story though.
I also wonder if the toy sales are helping Scholastic book club stay in business. Who knows how it's doing in this economy!
If it was a Hannah MOntana book, then yeah, I agree with you, but if the kid is buying a DVD instead of a book at a book fair, well that kind of stinks. I remember how exciting it was when the book fair came to my school. I loved to read and had books all over my house, but I always wanted to buy the Lisa Frank stuff...
